Photographing The Grand Old Lady

This is the Waitomo Hotel - grandeur from an earlier age and sadly in need of some tender loving care. I go for my Rongoa treatment behind this building and while I don't usually work in architecture a lot of the textile artists I come across work in an urban environment where architecture is centre stage. I love the patterns and repeating shapes so I spent an lovely hour wandering around the grounds and taking photos. The hotel has been closed since the outbreak of Covid. I wonder if it will ever open again. It has a wealth of myths surrounding it, not least the turret room on the right being haunted
