The Quilted Sky Maiden panel
Both Maori and Celts have legends about sky/moon maidens and this panel reflects that. It began with a photograph of a sunset I took in my back yard. I decided to try and use photoshop to superimpose a transparent woman's face in the sky. I added some free machine made lace to give the trees dimension and then quilted the face in the sky. If you have followed my blog for a while you will have seen posts of the components being put together. This is almost complete now. I will just put some embroidered text in the dark area at the bottom to provide the context in the project. I have been listening to Jo Andrews podcasts on how textiles inform and support our history and these are so pertinent to the project I have been granted the scholarship to pursue.
