Matariki - the Maori new Year

This seems particularly pertinent to me this year as I work on my project which is parallels between Celtic and Maori Culture and customs based around the Cross House at Miringa Te Kakara close to where I live. This year Matariki has been made a national holiday so there is lots of information around. although it is very cold and frosty I hope to get up and go to the local celebration at 5 30 on Friday morning. In the Northern hemisphere (Celtic) the Matariki cluster is referred to as the Seven sisters or Pleiades cluster and is called Yule. It has been combined into Christmas festivals and Yuletide. I am pondering how I present this is a textile based art form. Quite a mission.
