African Marigolds

I always grow marigolds each year around my tomatoes as a companion plant to help keep the whiteflies under control without pesticides. This year they did so well I decided to try dying with them and here are the results. The left hand column is just the marigolds and dying the right hand column has iron sulphate used as a mordant/ph changer to change the colour of the fabric. The samples from the top are are: merino jersey, mordanted cotton, silk noil, silk organza, silk charmeuse, silk top unspun
