A New Journal Ali Fergusson style

I have had some papers prepared to make a couple of A5 journals for some time and finally got round to putting them together. I find the sides of a wine cask are the perfect size for A5 journals so it is also a reuse product. The fabric in this journal is my own layer printed fabric which I was quite pleased with. It began with a less than perfect eco print (the gold colours and then I thermofaxed as screen of Jane Dunnewold;'s over the top. On top of that I used a spiral foamie stamp to create the intricate patterns on the fabric. These journals are created by stitching the signatures together with a simple pamphlet stitch plus a joining stitch top and bottom. The pamphlet stitch is done over the fabric tabs. The covers are then attached using buttons that go through the tabs and the cover to hold it all together. On this one I have used some shell (or parts of shells) that I picked up off the beach at Mokau. They are freely attached with cord so hang down at different levels
