Embellishing the Foliage Print on tissue
Here is a closeup of what I have been working on at night, This was the first foliage print on tissue that I assembled. It is laminated to watercolour paper and then to cotton to hold the stitching. Even though I am pre piercing the position of the French knots I find it quite difficult to get the thread through all layers but the layered and textured effect is worth it. The area I am embellishing is the print from the fennel flower. I am hoping to print some more tissue bits this week for use over the Winter when the foliage selection will be less. The fantail in the lower front has been printed on albaca tissue, cut out and attached with gel medium top and bottom. I have some heavier silk organza that I want to try printing on but need to get my print active again before I can do that. My first attempt at printing on the silk organza was using an organza that was too sheer and it was difficult to see the print. Silk organza is an option for printing and adding a layer on top of the eco prints. I also want to try using transparent paint to overprint with thermofax some designs. a bit like the puriri moth (done with Lumiere paint) on the original print but as a layer over the top of the whole print.
