Flashback 2

The keruru quilt was an important part of me quilting development because it was where I mastered thread painting. It began in a class with Diane Fosil and while the idea of the cabbage tee was from the prescribed "pattern, the rest is pretty much my own design. It was an interesting class because Diane shared with us how to make the dyed fleece fabric that makes up the log at the bottom right. Photographed here during a Quilts in the Garden ramble, this is one of my personally favourite quilts. The cabbage tree flowers are tiny beads and the clematis lianas are just textured wool couched onto the quilt surface
