Playing around with layers and some of my thermofax screens to think about fabric surface techniques for my Winter quilt. This is on an acrylic substrate but has application on its own. I used the Gregory Wilkins technique to create the first layer and put dabs of blue, black, tan and white paint and then smeared those across the surface. Next I used silver acrylic and applied the Northern Circle thermofax of Jane Dunnewold. and then finally the gum leaf images of a thermofax by Lisa Watkins. The actual studio time isn't very long but the paint needs to dry between each layer and the screens need to thoroughly washed to prevent them clogging with paint. While it is not shown in this photo, I have also put some tan butterflies on this piece. I am thinking of adding a tab top and some deep turquoise feather trim to the bottom
