Winter Quilt

I am really over Winter this year. We have had so many blah days and the days are short and uninspiring. I thought I would make a quilt that would take me through the worst of the rest of Winter and would be finished in time for Waitomo Society of Arts exhibition in October. Some panels will be representational and others will be surface design. Here is the beginning - some digital printout of bare trees against a leaden sky. This will be a central panel of the quilt and is probably the major focal point. The third tree layer down has some bright green leather ferns on the branches and I am thinking of using something like applied silk tops to represent these. I am trying to convey the greyness and how any little burst of colour in nature seems intensified at this time of year. We will see how this progresses
