A Good Keen Man

Finally finished tis thread painting. It is the last one for the exhibition and should have been done by Friday but the shading on his face took me a bit longer than I anticipated. I really made use of the ipad to zoom in on parts of the photo I was working from to get better colour definition. Things like the lips which were quite pinky and I thought when I did them would be too pink but next to the other colours they have been about right. With thread painting you can't "mix" colours like with paint so the colour juxtapositions and direction of thread and how the light strikes the thread becomes very important. I use mainly rayon thread because of its lustre and fineness. Now I put him in his frame and take him to the exhibition at Shoppington
