Using Caroline Nixon's Method with Traditionally Mordanted Fabric

This fabric was some I had treated with tannin and alum in the usual way and I was interested to see what would happen if I now dipped this in the ferrous sulphate solution. These are fresh leaves - two types of maple and cotinus leaves and t is high Summer here in New Zealand so the colours are quite muted. Overall I am quite happy with the result. Over the next little while I will take out more of my frozen leaves and print with the ferrous sulphaet dip method until Autumn gives brighter prints from the fresh leaves. If you compare the strength of the dye colours with the previous post you will see again the difference in time of year that the leaves are gathered. I believe that is to do with the tannin present in the leaves
