Mr Singh

When my brother 'n law was struggling to survive in Waikato hospital we met this man in the cafe. He had such an interesting face that i was bold enough to ask him if I culd take his photograph for my art work. He agreed. Originally I intended to thread paint the portrait and I may still do that but I am currently trying to create fabric portraits using toned fabric. It is a bit hard to tell from the photo but I have recreated his beard using Mary Pal's cheescloth technique. The beard was created on special sheeting over the top of the photo and then once the cheesecloth and pva glue were dry I just lifted it off. Now I need to work on the underlying skin tones. This photo has been posterised to give me guidance as to where the different valued need to be put
