Walnut ink

I had found a heap of walnuts in my foraging so yesterday I decided to make some walnut ink. I took about 12 walnuts that had withered shells, covered them with water in the slow cooker I use for eco printing work and let them simmer over night. When they had cooled in the water I removed as much of the walnuts and skins as I could - using rubber gloves so my hands didn't stain and then I strained the liquid into a dye pot and boiled it to reduce by about a third. I tried writing with using a wooden skewer and it seemed ok. I added about 10% vinegar to inhibit mould and bottled in small open mouthed jars that I could easily dip a pen or brush into
