Breakdown printing in the making

Once the screen is dry, it is placed on soda ash fabric and more thickening paste (we used an agar mix)is applied to the screen. This softens the dried mix and transfers some paint to the fabric underneath. This is repeated across the fabric and I turned my screen so that the prints were in different directions. The process is to get a background textured fabric. It doesnt look so inviting at this stage but by the time I put another colour or two on top I am sure I will have something unique. anyway I am off to Quilt Symposium today so this play will have to wait a week. I didnt wash out my screen so the next colour will have specks of blue in it - I am thinking of using yellow next so there should end up patches of blue green and yellow on the final piece
