So Nice to be Back Home

I have been away looking after Grandma post surgery for the last week and it was so nice to sleep in my own bed last night instead of on her couch. While I was away the team at Shoppington finished the mosaic tile mural and Rob worked out a plan to mount it. This has been a project lead by Kim to keep her staff busy and motivated over the slower winter months. None of them had done anything like this before. Kim created the design and blew it up using an OHP and transferred it to 2 sheets of fibrous plaster. She transferred the design to the sheets and showed the staff how to cut the tiles and adhere them to the boards. They are all so proud of their project. Kim intends to put a kids activity table in the front of this for outdoor craft activities for kids visiting the Smarty Pants store. It is fun being part of a creative family because we all have our own individual creative outlets. For Kim it is mosaics and ceramics. This project was delayed a bit because they ran out of the blue mosaic tiles which I had to bring back in my luggage from Indonesia. have you any idea how heavy a box of tiles makes your luggage? The design reflects the rural nature of our community with sheep and beef and dairying being major factors. There are various NZ emblems to each side and Nau mai Haere mai is a greeting in Maori. This project has taken many months and a team effort to complete. Go the team at Shoppington
