And now I am making a school of fish on organza. Their are little pieces under the organza and then I have free machine quilted over the top. The fins and tail are just stitched with a heavy 40 gauge cotton and the pectoral fin is an embellishment. Unfortunately it has grabbed the flash a bit so is very prominent in this photo. This is the beginning of a small quilt challenge on a subject I have been contemplating for some time. My husband is a keen fisherman and bemoans the fact that the factory ships with their seine nets are stripping out the seabed on the East Coast. Unlike many of my quilts this one has a social message - "Protect our Fisheries"
