The days are getting noticeably shorter now and next weekend is the end of daylight saving. It is time to cut off the dahlias that are looking decidedly tired and flopping over other things in the garden. My garden is fairly shady so I don't grow many dahlias these days but the flowers are always a lovely summer addition. This lovely white waterlily style one is one of my favourites and I have repeats of it along the raised limestone garden at the back of the house. One of my jobs for next week will be to cut off all the foliage at the base and dispose of them but in the meantime these last flowers are getting a reprieve. I might pick those flowers that are still intact and bring inside.
