Four Hungry mouths to Feed

You may have seen the beginning of this thread painting a long way back. it is one of the projects I am trying to finish by the end of the year. The concept for this quilt came from a thrush who made a nest in the top of a ponga tree when Charlotte was 4 and stayed with me the days her Mum worked. We watched the babies hatch and grow and then, much to Charlotte's dismay, one day the nest was empty. Charlotte is now seven but I didn't start work on this piece for quite a while after she went off to school. I will quilt the green in a leafy design and maybe add a border to pull it together. The nest is made from a fibrous mat that was diabolical to stitch as it kept getting caught in the presser foot of the machine
