The Helebores have Been Lovely But.....

What I love about the helebores is that they flower at a time of the year when there is not a lot of other plants in flower. What I don't love about them is they flourish so readily in my garden that when the seed pods start to get plump and full I need to cut them off before I end up with a forest of new helebores. I control most of my garden this way. I use lots of mulch so seeds that are dispersed start very readily. The days have been so glorious and after a term of full on art with Tamara we now have two weeks break so I am enjoying being out in the garden and catching up on things. I love this time of the year when the hostas and kaleidoscope plants and arisimas are popping out of the ground anew. I just need to be vigilant that the slugs and snails don't see them coming before I can put out some bait to keep the plants safe. I grow the helebores largely to fill in around the hostas when they are dormant so that I don't have too many beds with nothing in them but now it is time to cut back and let the hostas shine
