Stitch meditations and Women mentors

I like my stitch mediations to lead somehwere and often ideas from more than one perspective collide when I start to create. Last month in CST we were focused on the colour white. For some time I have been thinking about making a quilt with photos of women who have made a special contribution to my life. The squares are quite small 8 1/2" square and I am focusing on white and cream. Most of the fabric is recycled and here is my first one. this is my sister Shirley who died of lung cancer at the age of 46. I helped nurse her at home through her final days and she taught me so much about fortitude, death and dying. She was a charge nurse at Waikato hospital and this photo shows her in her uniform. this square is almost finished
