Habotai and using a cotton iron blanket

The instructions from Kathy Hayes eco dying course said to us silk noir as the iron blanketAs I didnt have any I decided to use a piece of cotton than had been previously mordanted in solda ash. You can see the cotton on the botton and the habotai silk on the top. This example shows very clearly how much stronger theunderside of the leaf prints. The dark brown leaves on the cotton are the underside. both pieces were misted with a 50/50 white vinegar and water mix before bundling and steaming for two hours
