Apples are so cheap at the moment
I did a lot preserving in the past but now it is mainly dehydrating and canning apples and tomatoes. Vegetables I freeze. Apples are so cheap at the moment I wonder how the orchardists stay in business. I know they are emptying the cold store from last seasons excess but I just can't resist the bounty. Apple chips (dehydrated apple slices) for snacks, in my porridge and home made muesli plus jars of apple sauce Yumm. The cores and peels I boiled up and strained through a muslin bag and made apple jelly - the kids really like that too. I want to have a go at making home made cider this year so we will see how I get on with that.
