Faux Snow Dying

This was a new adventure for me as we don't have snow. I had done a bit of ice dying but this process uses smashed up ice to create a wet snow. I picked up an old food processor cheaply at a thrift store a while back and I used this to process the ice - not so successfully but it did break up the cubes. I had to remember to buy some ice when I was out. Then I scrunched up some cotton that had been scoured with Fairy and soaked in soda ash solution. I placed it on top of my sistema microwave steamer rack(reserved just for dying). I put the faux snow on top and sprinkled 1/4 teaspoon each of procion dyes indigo, sky and golden yellow. Here is what it looked like. It looks pretty messy at this stage but I can already tell there are going to be some interesting textures as the faux snow melts and the dye takes hold
