A Happy Accident

I have been experimenting with what is the best way to get stencils onto fabric. This technique is using markel/shiva paintsticks and "painting" onto the edge of the stencil itself then transferring this with a toothbrush onto the fabric. I am trying not to lose any of the fine detail. This piece was sitting on the table in my studio and alongside of it was the plastic that I had had some of my dye experiments on. A small amount of dye had deposited onto the plastic and a couple of corners of this piece were inadvertently left touching the little pools of dye. When I cam back there was this lovely water colour effect in the background. I do not know if it will be colour fast but i think I might put this into a page of the fabric journal I am trying to work on. Priority at night at the moment is the hexys to finish the hexy quilt
