I am always asking "what if". Colour theory tells us red and yellow make orange but what if I mix the reds and yellows from two different colour wheels? How different will the resulting fabric be? Here is this experiment using equal portions of dye on soda ash soaked fabric using the low immersion in a baggie process. From left to right they are scarlet and golden yellow, scarlet and lemon yellow, magenta and golden yellow, magenta and lemon yellow. There is quite a range here depending on what I am trying to achieve. allowing myself time to play like this is becoming more and more important as I move toward authentic fabrics as well as authentic projects.
