Photos from Around the Magic Garden

Despite the very early hot weather with little rain the hydrangeas have been magnificient this year - probably the wet winter had something to do with it. By the late afternoon they look like they are gasping for breath a bit but by morning they are looking sprightly again. We are on water restrictions now so I have to eek the water out to special areas of need

Every year I say I am not going to bother with hanging baskets as they are a lot of work over the summer to keep watered and looking nice but every year I get sucked back into their beauty. I put an old diaper in the bottom to help retain water and a cream bottle in the centre to take the water down to the roots and not allow it to run off over the sides

This is the entrance from the road. Especially when it is hot and I am walking home from work at 3 G Teak, the cool welcoming trees are a great invite home. I just love it even if the trees do need maintenance and create lots of leaves in the Autumn. The leaves are all mulched and put put back on the garden in our holistic ecosystem so I don't even mind that

I don't know what happened to this wee fledgling but he lived on my back lawn for ages with mumma bird bringing him food. He was blind in one eye and couldnt fly properly because his feathers and his disability hampered him. He would hold his head on one side and listen for me coming and then hop away to the side

As I wander around my garden I often take photos of flowers that will provide me with ideas for artistic use later on. This was late afternoon and the agapanthus flower was just in but and deep shadow behind it. I can see lots of possibilities here
