Time to cut back the hydrangeas

Summer is over and the autumn has continued into a mild and now very wet early winter. The Summer was so wet that the hydrangea heads couldnt hold themselves up so I have had a big job cutting back the hydrangeas along the track and down the drive so now they look more like sticks than the beauties in the picture. I know that by next Summer they will be full of leaves and flowers again. The old fashioned ones like these can grow huge if left unpruned. I did bring some flower heads inside before I cut them off so I have some dried ones in arrangements in the house. At some time I want to make them the focal point of a textile art project
