Tuatara Tropicana

This was my entry into the 2019 Hoffman Challenge where the challenge is to use a fabric provided -= in this case a white ground with pink, yellow and orange citrus fruits. The quilt must fit within a 1 m square but cannot be either square or rectangular. I was delighted to be awarded Best Contemporary quilt and surprised at the Judges comments on the "rough" finish of the spikes on his back - she completely missed the technique. I had cut out the spikes from a zigzag patterned fabric and painted them with powertex so they stood rigid along the top of the body. Oh well we will see where we go with next year's offering. It was nice to get an award but it is the challenge and pushing myself to do something different within the parameters that excites me.
