This is an older quilt that I made some years back and last year, at the end of Summer I decided to wash it. It was a disaster. The purple dye from the backing fabric ran into the white area and accumulated on the machine stitched stippling. And then the weather became wet and mucky and I put the quilt away. Enter a product by Dylon called SOS Dye Run nearly 12 months later. I put two sachets in the washing machine at 60 degrees C and ran it through a cotton cycle - no detergent. Look what came out. The dye run was completely lifted from the fabric.
